NEW MENTOR PROGRAM

For the last several months, a team has been working on developing a mentor program to serve local foster youth ages 14-18 years old.

This program is called IMPACT.

Without a stable family environment, Foster youth ages 14-18 have the odds stacked against them and are particularly at risk to become jobless, homeless, addicted to drugs, or in jail once they approach adulthood.

Numerous studies have shown that mentoring has positive impacts on overall emotional well being and provides meaningful, lasting relationships, human connections, and a sense of belonging.

IMPACT will be a branch of The Refuge Ministry and particularly focus on ways to serve local foster youth.

We are so excited about this program and we will need all of you for many things planned as we dive in and launch this program in 2020.

For now, we are ready to begin finding our mentors! We will begin the process of interviewing, background checks, and training the mentors to prepare them to connect with local foster youth and have a positive IMPACT in so many ways.

If you are 21 years of age or older and would like to become a mentor, we invite you to an informational meeting on Thursday November 7th at 6pm at NorthStar Church on McCullough Blvd.

We need you! These kids need you!

Please reach out if you will be attending.

And please share this post and help us spread the word about IMPACT.
